In this week’s video, I talk about how LinkedIn networking is just like building your crew in Mario Kart World. Whether you’re drifting through job boards or trying to unlock your next shortcut to success, I’ll teach you how to power-slide past the competition by building smart connections. It’s time to stop playing solo and start karting with a squad.

Job hunting Tip of the week 💡

Make Your Resume ATS Friendly to Get Past the Digital Gatekeeper

Before your resume ever gets seen by a recruiter, it often has to pass the Applicant Tracking System (ATS). It’s software that scans, filters, and ranks your application based on keywords and formatting.

If your resume isn’t ATS-friendly, it might get rejected before a human even looks at it.

What is an ATS?

An ATS is like a digital bouncer. It reads your resume and matches it against the job description.

✅ If it sees the right keywords and structure, your application moves forward.

❌ If not, your resume might get auto-rejected — even if you’re qualified in some cases.

🎯 How to Make Your Resume ATS-Friendly:

  1. Use Standard Formatting

    Avoid:

  • Columns

  • Tables

  • Graphics or images

  • Unusual fonts

Stick to clean, simple layouts in Word or PDF format (unless the job posting requests something specific when it comes to uploading your resume).

  1. Use Keywords from the Job Description

✅ Mirror the language and phrases used in the posting.

If they ask for “project management” and you wrote “led initiatives,” the system might not recognize it as a match.

🎯 Cheat Code:

Aim to include hard skills, software tools, certifications, and job-specific language.

  1. Use Standard Headings

Stick to conventional section titles like:

  • “Work Experience”

  • “Education”

  • “Skills”

  • “Certifications”

Avoid overly creative headers like “My Journey” or “Where I’ve Been”.

Keep in mind that the ATS might not know where to look.

  1. Avoid Fancy Design Elements

    Keep it text-based.

    No icons, charts, or visuals.

🛡️ Simplicity = clarity = higher chances of getting through.

  1. Save It Right

PDFs are usually safe and my first choice when it comes to sending my resume because it keep all my information in one place. But some older ATS software prefers Word (.docx).

    Check the application instructions.

If in doubt, submit both if possible.

💡 Your resume isn’t just for people; it’s for machines too.

With the way AI is going, I know that these companies will add AI into the mix.

I feel that this part of the process should be handled by a human, but to cut costs and make more money, it will get updated.

Make sure your resume is readable by maximizing your chances.

What’s new with Dellyn Digital📝🎮?

I’m taking my written test this week, and I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a little nervous.

Not sure why, I have the app and it’s all on my phone (even includes flashcards), and everyone I’ve talked to says it’s easy and not to overthink it.

Still, I’m feeling a bit off about it. I’ll keep you posted on how it goes.

On a lighter note, Nintendo just dropped the Donkey Kong: Bananza Direct, and wow, that game looks fun. The mechanics remind me a lot of the Mario Odyssey team’s work, though Nintendo hasn’t confirmed anything yet. It drops next month, and you better believe I’m picking it up. Gotta finish Doom: The Dark Ages first so I can make room to feature it on the channel. Expect more Doom content soon!

Outside of that, I’ve been heads down building content for YouTube. Combining my career expertise with my passion for gaming has honestly changed my life. Helping others level up through Dellyn Digital, while building in public, has been one of the most rewarding things I’ve done.

If my content has helped you move forward, drop me a message on LinkedIn. I’d love to hear from you. Let’s keep leveling up, together. 🎮✨
