Newest YouTube video(s) this week:
In this week’s video, I dive into a new series on the channel!
The Company Checkpoint is a series where I go over a company’s Glassdoor reviews and look at any current events that’s going on with the company.
This will be for video game companies at the start, but I will also cover other companies as well.
Reach out to me on LinkedIn and share any companies you want me to go over next.
What is the company checkpoint?
The first one will be on Microsoft’s Xbox (before they raised the price of game pass)
Most Recent game(s) I live streamed: Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles
💡Job hunting Tip of the week 💡
Audit Your Online Presence Before You Apply!
Before you start sending out applications, take a moment to search your own name online.
Employers and recruiters do it too, and what they find can shape their first impression of you.
Yes, that means social media as well.
⸻
🔍 1. Google Yourself
Search your full name and see what shows up on the first two pages. Check old social media posts, forums, or public profiles that might not reflect your current professional image.
⸻
🧼 2. Clean Up What You Can
Delete or hide anything that feels unprofessional, outdated, or misaligned with how you want to present yourself. Think of it like clearing your digital inventory before a new mission.
⸻
🌟 3. Strengthen What You Control
Make sure your LinkedIn, portfolio, and professional sites are complete and consistent. Use the same profile picture, tone, and keywords across platforms so your brand feels cohesive.
⸻
🎮 4. Treat It Like Character Customization
Just like you fine-tune your avatar before entering multiplayer mode, you should refine your digital identity before entering the job market. How you appear online should match who you are professionally.
⸻
💡 TL;DR: Your online presence tells your story before you even get an interview.
Clean it up, align it with your goals, and make sure it represents the version of you that employers want to see.

What’s New with the Job Market this week?
📉 Labor Market Weakness Private data shows stagnation: With the official BLS jobs report delayed by the government shutdown, economists are relying on private sources. ADP reported a 32,000 job loss in September, while Revelio Labs estimated a modest +60,000 jobs.
Averaged together, that’s essentially flat job growth.
Unemployment steady but rising risks: The unemployment rate is holding around 4.3%, but long-term unemployment (27+ weeks jobless) has climbed to 26% of all unemployed, the highest in 3+ years.
🏦 Fed & Policy Implications
The New York Fed survey shows households expect higher unemployment in the next year and are cutting back spending plans. Inflation expectations also ticked up slightly to 3.4% (1-year outlook).
The Federal Reserve already cut rates in September and is expected to consider another cut at its late-October meeting to counter labor market weakness, despite inflation still above target.
🤖 AI & Hiring Dynamics AI isn’t eliminating jobs at scale yet, but it’s changing hiring practices. Some firms are using AI interviewers, and many employers are holding off on new hires to see how AI boosts productivity of existing staff.
This is creating a “wait-and-see” hiring environment, especially in white-collar roles, while skilled trades (plumbing, electrical, carpentry) remain in high demand.
📊 Structural Shifts A BLS benchmark revision revealed the U.S. added 911,000 fewer jobs from March 2024–March 2025 than previously reported, showing the slowdown began earlier and was deeper than thought.
Sectors hardest hit: hospitality (-176k), retail (-126k), professional/business services (-158k), manufacturing (-95k). Healthcare and AI-related roles remain the main bright spots.
✅ Takeaway for you: The labor market is softening across most industries, with hiring freezes and weak job creation. Long-term unemployment is creeping up, and Fed policy is shifting toward more rate cuts to cushion the slowdown. AI isn’t destroying jobs yet, but it’s reshaping how companies think about staffing, favoring productivity gains over expansion.
