💡Job hunting Tip of the week 💡
Build a “Wins & Impact” Document
Most job seekers wait until they need a resume to remember what they’ve achieved.
High-level professionals track their accomplishments as they happen so they never forget their value.
⸻
🎯 1. What Is a Wins & Impact Document?
It’s a running list where you track:
• Projects you completed
• Metrics you improved
• Problems you solved
• Recognition you received
• Skills you developed
Think of it as your personal highlight reel.
⸻
🔍 2. Why It Works
A wins document helps you:
• Write stronger resumes filled with measurable achievements
• Speak confidently in interviews
• Negotiate higher salaries
• Recognize your own growth
• Avoid scrambling at the last minute trying to remember what you did two jobs ago
This is how you shift from “I think I did well” to “Here’s the proof I deliver results.”
⸻
🧩 3. What to Include
Track things like:
• Revenue generated or saved
• Efficiency improvements
• Customer satisfaction increases
• Successful launches
• Partnerships built
• Awards or shoutouts
• New tools, systems, or workflows you mastered
Add bullet points monthly so it stays fresh.
⸻
🎮 4. Think of It Like Your Player Stats Screen
Games track your progress automatically. Real life doesn’t.
Your Wins & Impact document becomes your manual stat tracker, showcasing your XP gained, skills leveled, quests completed, and bosses defeated.
When it’s time to “apply for a new guild,” you have all your stats ready.
⸻
💡 TL;DR: A Wins & Impact document future-proofs your job search, strengthens your confidence, and makes every application or interview far more powerful.

What’s New with the Job Market this week?
Layoffs remain historically high, with over 1.17 million cuts announced in 2025 so far, but wage growth is still holding up modestly.
Hiring is weak, especially for seasonal retail jobs, and small businesses are struggling the most.
Layoffs and Job Cuts
Total layoffs in 2025: 1.17 million through November, the highest since the COVID-19 pandemic.
November layoffs: 71,321 announced, down sharply from October’s 153,074 but still 24% higher than last November.
Sectors hit hardest:
Telecommunications: 15,139 cuts in November, mostly from Verizon’s 13,000+ layoffs.
Technology: 153,536 jobs cut year-to-date, up 17% from 2024.
Retail: 91,954 cuts so far, a 139% increase from last year.
Food industry: 34,165 cuts, up 26% year-over-year.
Drivers of layoffs: Restructuring (128,255 jobs), store/unit closures (178,531), market/economic conditions (245,086), and AI adoption (54,694 jobs lost).
Hiring Trends
Seasonal retail hiring is weak: Only 265,000–365,000 seasonal workers expected this year, the lowest in 15 years, compared to 442,000 last year.
Planned hires overall: 497,151 announced in 2025, down 35% from 2024.
Small businesses: Cut 120,000 jobs in November, bearing the brunt of rising costs and tariffs.
Wage Growth
ADP report: Pay growth slowed slightly in November. Job-stayers saw 4.4% annual pay growth, while job-changers saw 6.3%, both down from October.
Bank of America data: Higher-income households saw 4.0% wage growth, middle-income 2.3%, and lower-income just 1.4%. The gap between high- and low-income wage growth remains wide.
Key Takeaways
Layoffs are elevated but slowing month-to-month. November’s cuts were half of October’s, suggesting some stabilization.
AI-driven restructuring is accelerating job displacement, particularly in tech and retail.
Wage growth is uneven, with higher earners seeing stronger gains while lower-income households lag.
Hiring remains weak, especially in retail and small businesses, signaling a cautious outlook for year-end employment.
