Most job seekers jump straight into applications and hope they are “close enough.” Strong candidates do something different.
They identify their skill gaps early and close them on purpose.

A skills gap map is a simple comparison between the skills you have now and the skills required for the roles you want. It shows you exactly where you are strong and where you need to level up.

What’s New with the Job Market this week?
📉 The Job Market Is Cooling, and the Data Finally Confirms It Fresh federal numbers and private‑sector reports paint a consistent picture: hiring is slowing, unemployment is rising, and volatility is the new normal.
📊 1. Hiring Has Slowed Sharply
Employers added 64,000 jobs in November, a weak number by historical standards.
October was even worse: the economy shed 105,000 jobs, driven heavily by federal workforce reductions.
Unemployment has climbed to 4.6%, the highest in four years.
This aligns with what many job seekers are feeling: fewer openings, slower callbacks, and longer searches.
🧊 2. “Low Hire, Low Fire” Labor Market
Fast Company describes the current environment as “low hire, low fire”, companies aren’t laying off aggressively, but they’re also not hiring much.
Long‑term unemployment (6+ months) has risen to 1.9 million people.
Workers who do lose jobs are struggling to re‑enter the market.
🧩 3. AI Is Reshaping Demand, Especially for Skilled Roles
A new Toptal report shows:
Demand for experienced tech and professional services talent fell 13% month‑over‑month, but is up 2% year‑over‑year.
Senior specialists (marketing +18% YoY, product +16% YoY) are in demand.
Designers (‑60% YoY) and cybersecurity roles (‑40% YoY) saw steep declines.
The through‑line: companies want fewer people, but more senior, AI‑literate ones.
🏥 4. Some Sectors Are Still Hiring
From the federal jobs report:
Healthcare added 46,000 jobs, still the most reliable engine of growth.
Construction added 28,000.
Social assistance added 18,000.
Meanwhile:
Transportation & warehousing lost 18,000 jobs.
Federal employment continues to fall due to deferred resignations coming off payrolls.
🏛️ 5. Policymakers Are Responding
The Federal Reserve has already cut interest rates three times to counteract the cooling labor market.
Officials are signaling more cuts may come in 2026.
🧠 6. The Big Picture The job market is:
Cooling (slower hiring, rising unemployment)
Volatile (AI adoption reshaping demand)
Uneven (senior specialists favored; entry‑level/generalists squeezed)
Sector‑split (healthcare strong, tech mixed, logistics weakening)

Applying to over 50-100 roles a day or even week is a lot for anyone but with this tool it makes it super easy. Just make sure those roles line up with your skills (Do Not apply to roles that you’re not a good fit for). Remember what uncle Ben said:

Making short form videos can be hard and it takes time. That’s why you can pull from your long form videos and make something fast with this tool. Making content around what you do is key when on the job hunt. Show them what you’re made of because video is the future. I know you came across some applications asking you to make a video, right?
