Last year 2024, on Halloween day, I got called into a meeting and was informed that my position has been eliminated.

It hit hard.

I was a top performer.

✅ Recruited 70% of company hires

✅ Trained 6 teammates

✅ Manage the recruitment budget for the company which made multimillion dollars year over year.

✅ Made the two YouTube channels

✅ Raised company reviews from 2.7 ⭐ to 3.5 ⭐ on Glassdoor an Indeed by following up with people and solving problems.

Still was told I was not needed, after all that and then some.

I didn’t realize it.

But that day was really Level 1 of a new game for me and my life.

Instead of rushing into the next job, I explored the first two weeks.

Focused more on building Dellyn Digital, a platform to help job seekers who love video games navigate the job hunt.

My goal?

To turn my recruitment experience into strategies that help others respawn stronger and provide more streams of income for myself.

🤝 Lesson 3: Form Your Party

The best part of this journey?

The allies I’ve met along the way.

Networking wasn’t about “what can you do for me.” It was “what can we build together.”

When you connect with the right people, your XP multiplies.

⚙️ Lesson 4: Upgrade Your Gear

I invested in new tools and skills.

AI, video editing, content creation.

Now, I teach job seekers how to use these tools to stand out online.

Because in this new age of looking for work and work, visibility = Opportunity.

💡 Where I Am Now

Now, I work with a company that values my work.

I spend more time with my wife and pets more.

I go to in person networking events in NYC.

I create content that helps others level up in their careers and job hunt.

I make YouTube videos, Live stream, digital products, and run coaching sessions, all powered by the lessons I learned when everything fell apart and the power of video games.

And yes, I smile a lot more.

I still play the corporate game because I love what I do in my career.

But a better game began, one where I’m the player, designer, and storyteller of my own business.

Trust me, this next part of the story is wild. It’s what I’ve been doing since that day.

And I’ve been busy this year.
