This week, we broke down all the major announcements from Tokyo Game Show and Sony's State of Play.

Here are our top takeaways:

RESIDENT EVIL 9 COMING TO SWITCH 2

One of the biggest surprises - RE9 will launch day-and-date on Switch 2 as an actual download, not a cloud version. This is huge considering how developers are now viewing the Switch 2 as a serious platform, especially with PS5 and Xbox price increases.

The question remains: Will they stick to that launch day commitment?

We've already seen Borderlands 4 push back their Switch 2 release date.

KOJIMA'S NEW PROJECTS

OD (with Jordan Peele) - An episodic anthology game where each episode has a different director tackling different fears. Kojima's episode focuses on fear of loud noises. This unique approach to horror gaming has us intrigued.

Physint - Kojima's spiritual successor to Metal Gear. A

stealth espionage game that feels like a return to form for the legendary creator.

XBOX HANDHELD PRICING CONCERNS

The lower model is $600, the high-end model hits $1,000. In this economy, that's a tough sell when you can get a Steam Deck for around $400 or a Switch 2 for $450.

The device focuses on Game Pass and remote play, with access to multiple PC storefronts.

But is that enough to justify the price?

HADES 2 OFFICIALLY LAUNCHES

After early access, Hades 2 is finally here. Supergiant Games continues to deliver with stunning art, incredible music, and compelling storytelling that makes you want to dive back in for another run.

If you loved the first game, this is a must-play.

The roguelike mechanics are refined, and the story progression keeps you hooked.

WOLVERINE GAMEPLAY REVEAL

Insomniac nailed it. The gore, the brutality, the healing factor mechanics - everything feels authentic to the character.

Coming Fall 2026, this might open the door for more Marvel hero games from Insomniac.

Iron Man, anyone?

DOUG BOWSER STEPPING DOWN

After leading Nintendo of America since 2015, Doug Bowser is stepping down on December 31st, 2025. His successor was thanked in the credits for Metroid Prime Remastered and Super Punch Out - an interesting detail that has fans curious.
