Hiring in 8 countries shouldn't require 8 different processes

This guide from Deel breaks down how to build one global hiring system. You’ll learn about assessment frameworks that scale, how to do headcount planning across regions, and even intake processes that work everywhere. As HR pros know, hiring in one country is hard enough. So let this free global hiring guide give you the tools you need to avoid global hiring headaches.

I'm here to help you navigate the modern job market with smart strategies and actionable insights.

In this edition, I want to address a question that's on everyone's mind: Which jobs will AI never replace?

As someone who recently experienced a layoff in late 2024, I've been deeply immersed in understanding how artificial intelligence is reshaping our professional landscape. What I've discovered might surprise you.

The Unexpected Shift

Recent findings from the Pew Research Center reveal an interesting paradox: workers with advanced degrees may actually face higher risks of AI displacement. We're seeing this play out in real-time, particularly in states like California, where white-collar positions are declining while blue-collar jobs are experiencing growth.

Surprisingly, traditional trades plumbing, electrical work, and similar hands-on professions are proving remarkably resistant to automation.

Many young people are choosing these career paths over conventional four-year degrees, drawn by the stability and human-centered nature of the work.

Where AI Falls Short

While artificial intelligence is making inroads into paralegal work, customer service, sales, programming, and data entry, certain professions remain firmly in human territory. Jobs requiring emotional intelligence, creativity, and genuine human connection continue to thrive.

Healthcare professionals, social workers, and educators exemplify careers where the human element is irreplaceable. These roles demand empathy, nuanced judgment, and creative problem-solving qualities AI has yet to replicate.

Your Action Plan

The key to career security isn't resistance, it's adaptation. Here's what I recommend:

  1. Research the AI tools currently being used in your industry

  2. Commit to learning and mastering these technologies

  3. Review job descriptions in your field to identify emerging skill requirements

  4. Stay engaged with professional communities and continue learning

Don't wait for change to happen to you.

Take control of your career trajectory by becoming fluent in the technologies shaping your field.
